There is an emphasis on history-taking, because good history accomplishes more than half the job. Routine clinical examination done in a systematic manner reveals a lot of information. There are instances when a thyroid swelling, for example, is seen from a distance and sent for fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC)/thyroid function test. Arriving at a clinical diagnosis before investigating is invaluable. To this end, clinical examination has been described in some detail. This book could be a ready reckoner prior to the PG clinical examination as it deals with cases usually given in such examinations.
