      Description

      Psychiatric epidemics is a fascinating academic subject that drew attention since last three hundred years. Psychosexual disorders occupy an important section in cultural psychiatry. Koro is a special example in the arena of culture-bound syndromes. Koro epidemic, first reported in 1908 from China, is an intensely studied subject, both in social anthropology and psychiatry. Koro, both in sporadic and epidemic form, is reported mainly from South-East Asia. India is a Koro-prone country and evidenced nearly 10 such epidemics since 1982. Clinical study of each Koro epidemics here unfolds many new psychosocial dynamics and insight about management and prevention.
