The book is a comprehensive, logically organized and written in very simplified language for understanding of the beginners. This book gives an opportunity to learn the basics of obstetric nursing and apply the knowledge into nursing action. If helps to understand both theory and practical aspects of obstetrics including step-wise nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis and nursing implications based on priority need of the mother and baby.  The book is designed based on the Indian Nursing Council (INC) curriculum. Although the book has been written primarily for the undergraduate nursing students, it should also be useful to diploma nursing and postgraduate nursing students for developing thorough knowledge in obstetric nursing and helpful for the students for preparation of examination and can be used as a guide in their practice.
